The Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority issues permits for commercial transportation providers that conduct business at Raleigh-Durham International Airport. Permits are required for non-tenant operators providing transportation-related services at RDU.

Approval of a permit authorizes an operator to conduct business at RDU but does not constitute endorsement by the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority. View the Transportation Services Directory for a list of currently permitted providers.

Annual Permit

Operators that provide transportation services at RDU more than four days per calendar year must obtain an Annual Permit. Applications must be submitted with:

  • An original signature.

  • A completed instruction page.

  • All required supporting documentation.

Incomplete applications may delay permit processing.

Special Access Permit

A Special Access Permit is a temporary permit that authorizes commercial ground transportation services at RDU for a period of up to one month.

Special Access Permits may be used for:

  • Temporary participation in the Airport Garage Access Program on a per-trip basis.

  • Transportation services related to a special event.

  • Temporary replacement of an approved commercial vehicle within an authorized fleet (hotel operators only).

  • Operators that make fewer than four trips to the airport each year.
