Need Assistance?

Raleigh-Durham International Airport is committed to providing an accessible and welcoming travel experience for all guests.

If you need assistance before, during or after your trip, contact the guest experience team at 919-840-2123.

You may also contact your airline directly for travel accommodations and accessibility services.

Wheelchair Services

Wheelchair assistance is provided by your airline.

Before your trip: Request wheelchair assistance when booking your flight or contact your airline before you travel.

At the airport: Tell your flight attendant before landing if you are arriving at RDU. You can also request assistance from a skycap at the curb, visit an information desk or call guest experience at 919-840-2123

Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program

RDU participates in the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program, which helps travelers discreetly indicate they may need additional assistance, understanding or time while navigating the airport.

The sunflower is a globally recognized symbol for hidden or non-visible disabilities, including autism, hearing loss, chronic pain, diabetes, learning differences, mental health conditions and other conditions that may not be immediately apparent.

Free sunflower lanyards and other program items are available at the information desks in Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Guests may also arrange pickup by calling 919-840-2123.

Participation is voluntary. Wearing a sunflower identifier does not guarantee special treatment but may help airport employees recognize that additional support may be helpful.

Service Animals

Pet relief areas are available before and after TSA security in both terminals. Pre-security areas are located outside the baggage claim levels of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Post-security areas are located near Gate A7 in Terminal 1 and Gate C9 in Terminal 2.

When traveling through a TSA checkpoint with a service animal:

  • Carry appropriate identification and documentation when applicable.

  • Inform the TSA officer that you are traveling with a service animal.

  • Maintain control of your animal using a leash, harness or other appropriate restraint while proceeding through screening.
